Learning the leadership ropes

Elementary school teacher Dianna Leggett walks a leadership tightrope strung between staff and students.
This isn’t as perilous as it might sound. Not if you know you can meet your leadership challenges because those on the ground below you support you in your goals.

They give you support, in part, because you have built a good team and have developed a strong sense of community within your school, Leggett said. This is one of many lessons she learned this summer during an intensive weeklong leadership course at the Harvard Graduate School of Education in Cambridge, Mass.
