Position Description

Raise Your Hand Texas seeks an intern to support creative, marketing, PR, and public affairs initiatives to help increase affinity of and support for public schools across Texas.

We are looking for a utility player who can float across disciplines, providing support to multiple members of the Marketing team.

Role and Responsibilities

Content Support

  • Draft social media posts for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram
  • Draft media materials, such as news releases
  • Identify opportunities to break down existing content into social media quotes, graphics, and other promotional elements

Story/Production/Event Support

  • Logistics support for pre- and post-production of multimedia stories and events
  • Image tagging and organization in creative digital asset management system
  • Generating and reviewing video transcripts to identify story opportunities and create video captions for social media

Beneficial, but not required, experience

  • Social media and website analytics
  • Familiarity with WordPress
  • Multimedia production experience (video, photography, animation, graphic design)

Qualifications

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student in a marketing, PR, advertising, or design-related field
  • Alignment with the core beliefs and mission of Raise Your Hand Texas
  • Familiarity with, and commitment to improving, the Texas K-12 public school system
  • Excellent organizational and computer skills, including Excel and Google suite
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Based in Austin
  • Some paid travel may be requested, depending upon the intern’s schedule

The position is available for up to 20 hours per week, dependent upon the intern’s schedule, at a rate of $20/ hour.
