In past sessions, the Texas Legislature debated whether publicly funded prekindergarten was worth the investment. That debate is over. The research is clear: high-quality pre-k programs have tremendous benefits for students, schools, and states.

Now the debate has shifted to whether Texas should simply incentivize districts to offer higher quality half-day programs, or whether the state should invest so districts can offer high-quality, full-day pre-k programs to currently eligible populations.
