Statement from Raise Your Hand Texas on TEA application for pre-k grant

Statement from Raise Your Hand Texas in response to the press release by Texas Education Commissioner Michael Williams announcing TEA’s intent to submit an application for a federal preschool expansion grant:

“We applaud Commissioner Williams for recognizing that quality pre-kindergarten is essential to closing the achievement gap, and for taking the necessary steps to secure additional resources to enhance the quality of pre-kindergarten in Texas,” said Raise Your Hand Texas CEO Dr. David Anthony.

“We hope that these additional resources will lay the foundation for the Texas Legislature to take decisive action to provide high-quality full-day pre-k to accelerate our efforts as a state to put all of our students on a path to success as early as possible.”
