First #ThisIsTexasPreK Winner

    As part of our #PowerOfPreK day at the Capitol on March 25, we created the #ThisIsTexasPreK hashtag for Twitter and Facebook. We believe it is crucial to remind legislators who they are voting for when they choose to increase the state’s investment in pre-K to fund a full-day program.

    To our delight, hundreds of classrooms across Texas participated by posting photos and videos using the hashtag #ThisIsTexasPreK on Twitter and Facebook. We encouraged teachers and principals to post, and announced we would award one classroom $500.

    Due to the overwhelming popularity of the hashtag (more than 793 posts and counting!), combined with the urgent need to remind the legislature why now is the time to for full-day funding to realize the #PowerOfPreK, we are extending the contest! For the next month, we will award $500 each Friday to a pre-K classroom that posts a photo or video using the #ThisIsTexasPreK hashtag.

    • Raise Your Hand Texas Celebrates Full-Day Pre-K

      For more than a dozen years, our organization, along with many other business and education groups across the state, called for investment in high-quality, full-day pre-K for students who need it most. Legislators deserve a special recognition this session for funding full-day pre-K for our youngest at-risk learners. As a result, school districts are already enthusiastically transitioning to full-day programs.

Grow Up Great is their flagship philanthropic program, a bilingual initiative to prepare children, particularly underserved children, from birth to age five for success in school and life.
