Company Introduction:

The Raise Your Hand Texas Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with two distinct but related missions. First, we support programmatic initiatives structured to identify, pilot, and scale systemic improvements in public education. Second, we support public policy solutions that invest in our students, encourage innovation and autonomy, and improve college and workforce readiness.

The future of Texas – our economy, communities, and citizenry – depends on how well we prepare our students today. All students deserve a level playing field and equal access to a quality public education. We believe our public schools represent our greatest hope for educating and preparing all 5+ million Texas students for the future.

If you’re ready to get engaged, join us to help strengthen and improve public schools for all Texas students. Because the future of Texas is in our public schools.

Raise Your Hand Texas is seeking a Programs Fellow to support the Charles Butt Scholarship program. The Charles Butt Scholarship is provided to aspiring teachers attending 10 universities across Texas. The Scholarship program includes financial, professional, and personal support. As part of this support, Scholars facing financial crisis are able to request “Charles Butt Scholar Support Services.” The goal of the Scholar Support Services is to ensure Scholars can meet their basic needs and progress through their teacher preparation program. Through the Scholar Support Services, the Charles Butt Scholarship team works with the Scholar to identify community- and university-based resources to fill their needs. If these resources are inadequate, Scholars can access a Scholar Support Fund, through which the Raise Your Hand Texas foundation provides them a one-time payment to subsidize their living expenses. The main role of the Programs Fellow will be to manage the Charles Butt Scholar Support Services and collaborate with the Scholarship team to determine when payment from the Scholar Support Fund is needed. The Programs Fellow will also contact Scholars the programs team has identified as potentially needing additional support to ensure their well-being and ability to thrive at their universities and in their teacher preparation programs (for example, first-generation Scholars, Scholars who have transferred, Scholars with families, etc.) In addition, the Fellow will work with the Scholarship team to improve the provision of social-emotional and mental health support to Scholars.

  • Understand and documenting Scholar’s situations while showing empathy and compassion
  • Collaborate with the Raise Your Hand Charles Butt Scholarship team to continuously improve the Scholar Support Services
  • Collaborate with the Raise Your Hand Charles Butt Scholarship team to identify or develop social-emotional and wellness professional development for Charles Butt Scholars and Scholar alumni who are current teachers
