Emily Donaldson

Emily Donaldson joined Raise Your Hand Texas in January 2024 as a Policy Fellow. She previously worked as a journalist covering both state and local education issues in Dallas, San Antonio, and Austin for The Dallas Morning News, San Antonio Report, and Community Impact Newspaper.

During her time in Missouri, Emily worked as a legislative reporter at a statewide wire service, where she first became familiar with the policymaking process. She later learned about Texas’ education landscape spending many long nights in school board meetings and early mornings shadowing teachers.

She holds bachelor’s degrees in journalism and political science from the University of Missouri. Emily is currently pursuing a master’s degree in education policy from the University of Texas.
