Interim Charge Legislative Update May 2026

The Texas House Committee on Public Education met on May 11, 2026 to hear invited and public testimony on the “State of Education” interim charge, focusing on academic outcomes, enrollment trends, school finance stability, school safety, technology and artificial intelligence, and ways to improve efficiency in district operations. The committee also discussed the implementation of HB 1481 regarding students’ use of personal communication devices in schools.
