2019 Raise Your Hand Texas Leadership Symposium

February 11 – 13, 2019
Hilton Austin - 500 E 4th St, Austin, TX 78701

Program Overview

The 11th annual symposium provides a platform for educators to network with one another and exchange ideas and best practices; to share stories and experiences from your time in the field working with students; to learn from the thought leaders in education; and to connect with your legislators at the capitol. In each of these instances, we ask you to Raise Your Voice.

Symposium Agenda Overview

In the face of daunting challenges, teachers and school leaders have maintained their steadfast commitment to meeting the needs of every student. The 30+ year narrative of failing schools resulting in punitive-focused policies has been allowed to echo for too long. It is time for a new voice to rise. A voice that remained dormant in the face of destructive forces.

Educators possess a uniquely powerful voice. Their voice can build a child up. Their voice can help a student believe in a future they never thought possible. Their voice can get a family through a tough time, or rally a community. Their voice can shape and inform policy at the state and local level.

Raise your voice because student voices matter. Raise your voice because school leader voices matter. Raise your voice because parent, community, and business voices matter. Raise your voice because teacher and aspiring teacher voices matter. Raise Your voice because your voice matters.

It is time for public education voices to rise.

Hotel Accommodations

The 2018 Leadership Symposium honored the more than 1,000 leaders sponsored for leadership development and coaching programs, the 10th annual symposium coordinated by the Raise Your Hand Texas Foundation, and our singular shared purpose of strengthening public education for all Texas students.

Our conference theme was “Go Beyond,” a call to each of you to assess the great work you’re doing now while committing yourselves to pushing beyond those barriers that can impede the work of educating 21st century students.

The emphasis for this symposium was on campus-to-community partnerships. Conference sessions covering leadership development, family engagement and campus branding prepared school leaders to develop impactful campus community relations.

Participants made the trip from their public school campuses to the Texas State Capitol where they met face-to-face with their legislators. The remainder of the 3-day symposium was chock-full of sessions featuring some of the most renowned leaders in the world of public education today.
