Kenia knows what hardship is. Having arrived in the United States from Guatemala at age two, she is familiar with the struggles of at-risk students and their families. As a future teacher, she looks forward to working with these families. Her message will be that all students have the potential to achieve, no matter where or what they come from.
Kenia also believes being a teacher puts in her the position to be an asset to her community as a leader and supporter of students and families. Kenia’s family has great respect and admiration for teachers, and her sister recently entered the field as an elementary teacher and first-generation college graduate.
"As a future educator, I will do everything in my will to provide a great education to students because I believe every student deserves the best."
