Raise Your Hand Texas Names Will Holleman as Senior Director of Government Relations

[email protected], (512)784-3805 AUSTIN, TX (April 28, 2022) –  Raise Your Hand Texas today announced Will Holleman, the former assistant director of governmental relations for the Texas Association of School Boards, as the organization’s new senior director of government relations starting on May 9, 2022. Holleman will bring over 10 years of advocacy and policy experience to the executive leadership team.In his new role, Holleman will help implement Raise Your Hand Texas’ education policy strategy and guide the organization’s legislative advocacy efforts. Day-to-day, Holleman will serve as Raise Your Hand Texas’ direct contact to elected and appointed state officials, staff, and state agencies.

While at the Texas Association of School Boards he covered areas in tax and school finance policy, pensions and investments, and personnel issues. Holleman served as a researcher at the Texas A&M Foundation and as chief of staff at the Texas House of Representatives for Public Education Chairman Jimmie Don Aycock during the 84th Legislative session. During this time he worked closely with Rep. Aycock’s team on HB 2804 to revamp the public education accountability system and other legislation to positively impact Texas schools.Will Holleman“Will brings a wealth of advocacy and policy experience to Raise Your Hand Texas from his years of work at the State Capitol, in academia, and with educators,” said Dr. Michelle Smith, executive director at Raise Your Hand Texas. “As the proud son of two public school educators with expansive experience in his field, Will brings a unique perspective and skillset to our public education policy and advocacy program.” 

Holleman holds a Master of Public Service and Administration with a focus in Education Policy and Management from The Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University and a dual bachelor’s degree in Political Science and History from Texas A&M University.
