Let your lawmakers know how you feel about the STAAR test: go.ryht.org/hb4

The Texas Legislature could end the STAAR test in the next few days and build a more meaningful accountability system for public schools. The House’s version of HB 4, which passed out of the Texas House with a vote of 143-1, ends the STAAR test and replaces it with an instrument designed to measure growth and deliver fast results. It also creates new Student Engagement and Workforce Development Indicators for elementary and middle school campuses, so that their A-F ratings will no longer be 100% based on standardized test scores.

However, the Senate’s version of HB 4 does not include these provisions. It passed out of the Senate on May 27.

Tell lawmakers TODAY to listen to parents, educators, and students and support the House version of HB 4: go.ryht.org/hb4

Ask Your Legislators To Support the House Version of HB 4 (link in bio): go.ryht.org/hb4

The Texas Legislature is on the brink of reining in the STAAR test and building a more meaningful accountability system for public schools. However, the Senate’s version of HB 4 does not include these provisions. It passed out of the Senate on May 27. Now, with only days left in the legislative session, the bill appears to be on its way to conference committee.
