Statement On Filing Of SB3 (ESA & Tax Credit Scholarship Voucher)

January 30, 2017 |

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AUSTIN, TX (January 30, 2017) – SB 3 is a school voucher on steroids. It marries a taxpayer-funded government subsidy for private schools and vendors to a corporate tax break with little public oversight and no accountability for results. This bill would reduce fair access to educational opportunity, weaken rights for students with disabilities, and expose taxpayers to fraud. Every Texas student deserves access to a quality education and only public district and charter schools can deliver on the promise of quality school choice and innovative offerings with both transparency and accountability in the use of public dollars.
