Across the state, in communities of all shapes and sizes, Raise Your Hand Texas is fostering a movement to support public education.

Raise Your Hand Texas Advocacy Core Teams are community-based groups of committed public education advocates representing families, taxpayers, and educators who share a common mission to advocate for increased investment in public education.
They are nonpartisan, grassroots advocacy teams that anyone can join. Advocacy Core Teams include people who have a focused goal on public education funding and assessment and accountability issues, looking to make impactful change at the state legislative level.

Why would I join and Advocacy Core Team?
The challenge of advocacy is that doing the work independently makes it difficult to sustain. By building community and relationships with others, an Advocacy Core Team is a fun, sustainable, and enduring entity.
How do I join an Advocacy Core Team and is there one in my community?
Each Advocacy Core Team is unique and reflects the people of a specific city or region, particularly in the realm of public education. Each team comprises 5 to 15 people. Connect with your Regional Advocacy Director to learn about local community opportunities or how to start a new Advocacy Core Team in your area.
How much time is involved?
Advocacy Core Teams generally meet once a month when the Texas Legislature is not in session. Additional opportunities for group advocacy occur during each Legislative Session.
What is the cost to join an Advocacy Core Team?
It is free to be part of an Advocacy Core Team. If you care about public education, then there is a place for you on an Advocacy Core Team.
