Deanna Barley serves as the regional advocacy director for West Texas. She joined Raise Your Hand Texas in the summer of 2025. Barley brings over 20 years of experience in education, advocacy, and civic engagement.

Barley has worked in 1-A to 5-A schools as a teacher and instructional coach, served Region 15 as an education specialist for Secondary English, taught remote/hybrid courses for contained facilities, and served as a leader in various state and community groups.

Barley holds a bachelor’s degree in English and Communications from Angelo State University and a master’s degree in Education Teacher Leadership and Curriculum & Instruction from Lamar University. A native San Angeloan with strong family ties to rural communities, she lives in Brady, Texas, with her husband Trent and their dogs and deer.
