Kelley Thomas

Kelley Thomas serves as a regional advocacy director for Collin and Denton counties. Before joining Raise Your Hand Texas in 2024, she served as president of Plano ISD’s Council of PTAs from 2018 to 2020. Through this involvement, Kelley was nominated by her superintendent and received the 2020 State Board of Education Heroes for Children Award for District 12.

Thomas’ advocacy journey began when her first child started kindergarten in Plano ISD when she was asked to be a room mom and then a Destination Imagination team manager. She was hooked on finding ways for every child to reach their full potential.

In September 2020, she continued with Texas PTA as Vice President, Membership, followed by Vice President, Leadership, and, as of today, Vice President, Programs & Resources. Thomas has received three Texas PTA Honorary Life Memberships, a Texas PTA Extended Service Award, and two National PTA Life Achievement awards. She is a 2016 graduate of Texas PTA’s Emerging Leaders Academy.

Outside of PTA, her leadership roles have included serving as Leadership Plano Board chair, Destination Imagination NExT Region Rising Stars Challenge Master, Junior League of Collin County public advocacy chair and community ambassador, and as a board of director for the Plano Education Foundation.

Kelley earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from North Carolina State. She and her husband, Eric, reside in Richardson and have two children, Courtney and Kyle.
