March 2015 Capitol Update

March 24, 2015 |

The 84th Legislative Session is in full bloom and Raise Your Hand Texas is working to advance legislation that strengthens public schools for all Texas students and empowers principals and other school leaders to enhance student achievement on their campuses. In previous emails, we shared how Raise Your Hand is focused on furthering the following issues this legislative season:

  • Increase quality and access for full-day pre-kindergarten for currently eligible populations
  • Create systems for better understanding and supporting educators to make Texas the best place in the country to be a school teacher or leader
  • Free public schools to innovate and reduce the burdens of a highly centralized, compliance-driven education system
  • Address chronically low-performing schools by providing swift and targeted interventions for struggling campuses
